12 Months Fixed Term Contract

The role

As a Tax Accountant you will be working as an integral part of the in-house tax team based in B&Q’s Store Support Office (SSO) principally covering Corporation tax and VAT compliance for an allocation of companies within the Kingfisher UK Group. In addition, providing assistance to the business with tax related matters and supporting team projects.

Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of VAT returns
  • Preparation of UK and offshore corporation tax computations including budgets and forecasts and other corporate tax compliance
  • Responsible for financial reporting relating to tax balances including deferred tax
  • Responsible for maintaining balance sheet controls and compliance with internal controls for tax
  • Providing tax advice to other areas of the business.
  • Identifying potential opportunities for improvements to the tax compliance and reporting processes, considering impacts across the business and supporting the implementation of change.
  • Assess industry developments and legislation changes and advise the business accordingly
  • Reviewing integrity and reliability of systems and reporting for tax compliance purposes to identify any weaknesses or areas of risk.

What we need?

Essential skills:

  • Detailed tax knowledge, with expertise in Corporation tax and/or VAT
  • Strong accounting skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Conscientious with an eye for detail

Knowledge and experience:

  • SAP and Excel experience
  • Experience of processing large amounts of data in an organised way
  • Strong judgment planning and prioritisation skills
  • Previous experience of following issues through to ultimate conclusion
  • Thrives when working in a fast paced environment
  • Technically up to date and aware of industry and legislative changes
  • Experience in relation to Transfer Pricing desired

Essential Technical / Professional Qualifications:

  • Accounting and/or Tax qualification (e.g. ACA/ACCA or ATT/CTA)
  • At least three years tax/accounting experience
