We’re Watson, we’re one of the regions leading affordable housing developers working right across Greater Manchester and Lancashire to deliver affordable led housing schemes to help address the affordable housing crisis. We are on the look out for someone to join our People team to provide support with recruiting the best talent in line with our ambitious growth plans. Within this role you will also be involved in the delivery of social value within the business inline with the contract comitments for each development.

Main Objectives:

  • Provide input to ensure that teams consist of diverse, qualified individuals
  • Ensure staffing needs are being met with a long term strategy in mind
  • Create and implement end to end hiring processes to ensure a positive experience for candidates

Key Responsibilities:

Talent Acquisition

  • Coordinate with directors to identify staffing needs and selection criteria
  • In conjunction with directors and people and culture manager prepare annual recruitment plans based on expected business growth
  • Source applicants through online channels, avoiding the use of external agencies
  • Create job descriptions and interview questions that reflect the requirements of each position
  • Compile lists of most suitable candidates by assessing their CVs, portfolios and references
  • Conduct telephone interviews with candidates ahead of face to face interviews
  • Attend interviews with candidates and provide detailed notes and assessment feedback to departmental members and directors
  • Organise and attend job fairs and recruitment events to build strong candidate pipelines
  • Maintain records of all materials used for recruitment, including interview notes and key paperwork
  • Manage the issuing of offer letters and lead in period for candidates ensuring that they remain engaged during this process
  • Undertake / provide support during the onboarding process to successfully integrate candidates within the business
  • Undertake a proactive management of weekly workforce to assess upcoming needs and assist with short term placement and recruitment to avoid the use of agency labour
  • Prepare and maintain labour resource schedules for weekly staff ensuring efficient allocation of labour, including but not limited to – Site Support Service Staff, Fire Stopping Staff, Labourers, FLT Drivers.
  • Undertake recruitment drives for weekly workforce within local areas of each development, including social media posting etc to drive interest.
  • Prepare and maintain a database of contacts for short term labour.
  • Provide formal weekly updates on each vacancy being recruited.

Social Value

  • Work with our development partners to identify opportunities to provide social value in the areas we develop to ensure compliance only with minimum contract commitments.
  • Manage work experience and work placement programmes for development sites in conjunction with the relevant construction teams, and to ensure compliance only with minimum contract commitments.
  • Work with our charity partners to provide opportunities to further our work with them and increase our CSR support.
  • Identify opportunities for employees to engage in social value causes with our preferred partners and encourage social value days to be undertaken.
  • Prepare and collate case studies of social value best practice to support department tender processes

To be considered for this role you should have:

  • Two or Three years’ experience in a talent acquisition role
  • Experience in full cycle recruiting, using various interview techniques and evaluation methods
  • Proficient with social media, CV databases, and professional networks
  • Experience in using professional networks and platforms to identify and source candidates
  • Proficient in documenting processes and keeping up with industry trends
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
