The System & Software Test Engineer is responsible for Engineering of the full software verification lifecycle – test case design and execution at unit, integration, subsystem and system level.

Depending on project, development and verification work on vehicles in the UK and abroad

Duties & Responsibilities

· To work on software for Haldex products according to Haldex IATF 16949 processes

· To perform unit, integration, subsystem and system testing on software developed inhouse or part of a system released by Haldex

· To support System Engineers in the execution of the test plan

· To create test cases (mainly according ISO29119) to verify successful requirement compliance

· To develop software for in-house test purposes

· To contribute to software verification process improvement towards ISO26262 and A-SPICE compliant work procedures

· To support engineers from other disciplines in system development and testing

· To support service engineers in the field where specific assistance is required

· Follow product development processes including Haldex Project Management Model and APQP

· Perform job functions in accordance with set policies and procedures to ensure preservation of Company Quality Policy

Key competencies

· ‘C’ programming language skills

· ‘C++’ Windows programming language skills are also beneficial

· Knowledge of ‘Safe C’ subsets e.g. MISRA

· Knowledge of ISO 26262 and A-SPICE are beneficial

· Expertise in requirement classification and test planning with focus on unit testing

· Appreciation of the specific challenges of real time systems

· Appreciation of structured analysis and design techniques

· Some exposure to MATLAB, Simulink and Stateflow is beneficial

· Understanding of compilers and linkers

· Understanding of microcontroller hardware

· Familiarity with emulators and debug tools

· Good understanding of personal computers and their operating systems

· Has the ability to work with others in a cross discipline team of engineers

· Has the ability to communicate at all levels, verbal, written and presentation

· Has the ability to solve problems and be self-motivated

· Knowledge and previous experience in VectorCAST and Polyspace is required

· Knowledge of Python scripting

Qualifications

· Any higher-level qualification in an engineering or computer systems related discipline or similar expertise

· Automotive Software experience
