The Public Health England National Legionella Surveillance Team is based within the Acute Respiratory Infections Unit of the Tuberculosis, Acute Respiratory, Gastrointestinal, Emerging/Zoonotic Infections and Travel Health (T.A.R.G.E.T) Division of the National Infection Service. The Acute Respiratory Infections units public health function is to contribute to improved preparedness, prevention and control of Legionella infections, Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus (MERS-CoV) and Avian Influenza in humans in the United Kingdom through surveillance, guidance development , teaching, clinical advice and research.
