Learning Disability Support Worker
  • Bishop Auckland £20,712 per annum along with expenses and a generous benefits package! Full time 37 hours permanent contract The Company As a small charity working with people with complex needs, that welcome staff from a range of professional backgrounds who have strong understanding of, and commitment to, learning disability and supporting unpaid carers. The organisation does not provide care services but life skills and employability services. Adopting best practice in both care and disability services, we mirror the care quality commission standards in our practice and have adopted wider frameworks which are recognised by commissioners in local authorities and the NHS as indicators of best practice. All our work is delivered using a person-centred planning and positive behaviour support model. Working with people with learning disabilities is hugely fulfilling on a professional and personal level. As part of the team you will see the difference you’re making to people’s lives each day. The Role Learning Disability Support Workers plan and deliver activities sessions for groups of 8-10 adults with learning disabilities. Activities are designed to enable each client to develop life and work skills, supporting clients to lead active, inclusive and fulfilling lives in their home community. Sessions take place both at our Day Centres and off site, making the most of our landscape, local facilities and services. Duties To plan and deliver activities sessions for groups of adults with learning disability to develop life and work skills To develop and take Clients to community-based sessions such as sports, arts, environmental and outdoor pursuits, shopping and community navigation To work with the Staff Team & Clients on our funded Projects To work with the Staff Team & Clients on our enterprise and fundraising initiatives To monitor and evaluate Clients progress against their Care Support Plan aspirationsThe ideal candidate Current UK driving licence and access to transportation for the role Experience supporting vulnerable adults in to employment, volunteering and/or self-employmentBenefits Contracts are offered on a permanent basis.   • 16.30 from Monday
  • Thursdays and 08.30 -16.00 on Fridays.
