We have been at the frontline for more than 50 years helping people reclaim and rebuild their lives through recovery in safe, supported environments. Our treatment centres are located across the UK, and we have exciting plans to extend our services in the coming years so that we can support more people to live their lives free from gambling addiction.We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to join our brand-new Residential site in Redditch as a Support Worker.Within the role, you will be required to provide effective support to the Gordon Moody rehabilitation program in a way that enables clients to overcome their addiction to gambling and move forward to recovery and independent living.The program provides structured support, to males aged over 18 years with severe gambling history, through a 14-week residential stay.Responsibilities:- Lead on the induction of the new residents through the provision of key information, ensuring all initial needs and concerns are identified, and met and assist in settling them in. This will include preparation of their room, safe storage of personal items and property checks.
  • To lead on housing benefit applications and liaise with the local benefits office.
  • To assist and ensure residents are registered with local facilities such as GPs, and housing and welfare benefits departments, and accompany them to appointments as appropriate.
  • To liaise with a range of health, justice, and social care agencies to support residents’ needs and recovery, including other gambling treatment providers.
  • To assist and provide advocacy for residents with communication issues where appropriate.
  • To address problems arising within the house on an individual basis or within house meetings.
  • To support residents to develop their living skills e.g., budgeting, shopping, cooking, and cleaning, including through groups/workshops/one-to-one as per Program plans.
  • To support residents to plan for indoor and outdoor recreational and recovery-based activities.
  • To support residents to meet their wider health and social care needs, both whilst in treatment and on exit to the community, in line with their support plans and liaison with the therapists.
  • To support the service to ensure rent payments are made and arrears are managed.
  • To undertake monthly Health & and safetyhecks of communal areas, staff areas and residents’ rooms
  • To report back and arrange repairs to the Centre Manager
  • To support the therapists in the delivery of the Program, such as through co-facilitating or covering group sessions
  • To support the development of the Program, through evaluation, continuous improvement, and development projects as necessary
  • To proactively support the work of the organisation with external stakeholders
  • To partake in learning and development opportunities, for personal development and to maintain up-to-date knowledge within the field.
  • To uphold and demonstrate the organisation’s core values at all times.
  • To carry out required administration functions, including correspondence, monitoring, data capture and updating the electronic case management database, ensuring quality record keeping at all times.
  • To partake in available support structures, including managerial supervision, team meetings, clinical meetings, and handover.
  • Specification:Essential:Level 3 NVQ Advice and Guidance or Equivalent.Strong organisational skills such as support planning within vulnerable groups.Efficient communication skills to complete both written and verbal reporting.A broad understanding of risk, incident and safeguarding processes.The ability to negotiate, advocate, advise and signpost.To be able to build and establish working relationships with partner agencies.Have the ability to handle crises and the flexibility to meet a number of needs.To be able to work independently, as part of a team and in the wider organisation.Desirable:Experience working in a structured Health and Social care environment.Have Knowledge And Experience Of The Benefits System.Completed training in therapeutic approaches.Worked directly with vulnerable people and/or groups.Experience in facilitating group work within vulnerable groups.Working
