As the young people we support have their own mobility cars we will require you to have a full UK, driving licence with a minimum of one year experience on the roads.

The Role

The service supports young people age 10 - 26 within the community with a focus on maintaining and promoting independence, you will work in a person-centred way to provide support to attend college, access the community and explore new interests for our young people that have left school and support to access the community over the summer holidays for our young people still attending school. You’ll be enthusiastic and take an active interest in their hobbies which include swimming, exercising, long drives in the car, visiting new places and listening to music. We’ll be looking to you to help identify new opportunities for participation and inclusion for the people we support.

We also provide 24 hour support to young people who live independently with support, this will include supporting young people with their education, building on independent living skills such as cooking and maintaining their home.

We do support young people who at times may display behaviours that challenge.

To be a great Support Practitioner, we’ll need you have;

  • Full UK driving licence (with minimum of one years’ experience driving)
  • Great communication skills.
  • Able to think outside the box.
  • Caring attitude and approach.
  • Positive approach to learning.
  • Able to follow guidelines.
  • Confidence in the use of computers.

Shift Patterns

Our team provide supports predominantly weekdays during college term time between 8am and 4:30pm. We provide support more flexibly, including weekends and evenings in the holidays for positive outcomes. For our 24 hour packages rotas will include a longer day shift with a sleepover.

Our sleepover shifts do not form part of your contracted hours, so you will receive an additional payment of £87 for an 8 hour sleep-over and £94 for a 9 hour sleepover which is dependant on the needs of the service.

Successful candidates will be required to join the Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme and be committed to working towards an SVQ in Social Services and Healthcare with the support from our Training Academy. If you’re successful in joining our team, we will need you to register with the SSSC within 3 months of starting your employment with us.
