Job Title: Supply Chain Manager
Location: India Mill, Darwen
Salary: £45,000 to £55,000 based on relevant skills experience and qualifications. Job type: Permanent, Full time, 37 hours per week over a 4-day week, Monday to Thursday Brookhouse Aerospace is a well-known and respected name in the Aerospace Industry currently in its 71st year, and during this time, the business has seen many positive changes following an MBO in 2021 from Kaman UK. We offer a range of capabilities, including manufacturing composite components, metallics, sheet metalwork, fabrication, machining and treatments. We are approved and certified for JOSCAR, AS 9100 and NADCAP certificated and are approved Tier 1 and 2 suppliers to the Aerospace and Defence manufacturers in the UK and internationally, such as Airbus, BAE, MBDA, Rolls Royce, Safran and Spirit. We are currently looking for a Supply Chain Manager with at least three years of working experience within an aerospace/manufacturing environment. The role:The Supply Chain Manager (SCM) is accountable for the leadership & management of both the purchasing and planning department. The purchasing department consists of a purchasing manager and a buyer who manage the day-to-day supply chain activities. The planning departments consist of a master scheduler, a scheduler, and a sales order entry administrator. The initial focus of the role is to integrate the two departments so that they work as a cohesive team, ensuring that robust plans are in place to satisfy customer demand. This is a hands-on role requiring the SCM to operate both strategically and tactically. Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:Establish and deliver against the Operational Strategy to facilitate the delivery of the Strategic Business Plan for the business through the achievement of all required KPIs, objectives and goals within the timescale and budget. Leads all functions within the supply chain - with leadership and technical guidance, including Production, Supply Chain (consisting of Purchasing, Material Control and Master Scheduling) and Planning (Sales, Inventory & Operational Planning). Organisational Change - leads transformational projects including restructuring where appropriate in the drive towards successful implementation of the Strategy. Ensures plans are in place to develop the required level of competence, knowledge and engagement across the team. Develops a robust and sustainable supply chain, maximising profitability and service via strategic sourcing and supplier engagement. Thorough cross-functional partnership with Programme Managers, understand and define account requirements to ensure that production meets customer expectations and budget. Establish, and deliver, stretching and sustainable strategic planning, including; short/mid-term objectives & strategies and longer-term plans in relation to planning, procurement, product delivery and site utilisation. Propose policy in relation to manufacturing practices within the business, including material and components sourcing and costs, timely delivery, and facilities, including the implementation of best practices to reduce manufacturing costs. Leads the development of continuous improvement programmes and the design of metrics that define and determine the level of improvement and results for the business. For example, make versus buy projects. Anticipate possible changes in production and servicing requirements to develop and implement short-term plans for operational flexibility. Maintain and establish relationships with sub-contractors, suppliers, and external customers, where appropriate. The Candidate:Proven senior management experience within a manufacturing and supply chain role Positive track record of team management and development Evidence of successful operations management, and specifically business process improvement, in a medium volume, challenging business within difficult forecasting, make-to-order, environment Experience in purchasing and supply chain activities ERP/MRP experience Must understand and have experience in sales and operations planning Project Management experience Evidence of business turnaround, demonstrating the ability to generate and deliver a clear focused plan Proven successful leadership, with a track record of delivery through others Sound understanding of financial processes, P&L, cost centre management and budgeting Has the ability to inspire others to be successful Has the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the business Commercially astute Strong interpersonal skills, especially in relationship building Team orientation - proven ability to lead a cross-functional agenda working collaboratively with peersBenefits: Holidays start at 28 days per year (including Bank Holidays) (Based on 4 days working week).
