Job Purpose & Context


This role forms a key part of the P2i Supply Chain team, where the primary focus is the successful shipment of outbound goods from P2i UK to the point of delivery.


The successful candidate will be tasked with reviewing open shipping requests and expected to engage with the Purchasing and Warehousing teams as appropriate to fulfil each order. In collaboration with these teams, there will be occasions where the individual will be expected to demonstrate flexibility and get involved in Purchasing and/or Warehousing activities to ensure successful order fulfilment.


Main Responsibilities


The main aspects of the role include, but are not limited to:


  • Manage shipping requests from the point of creation in SAP through to collection, tracking and delivery.
  • Work with and assist the Purchasing and Warehousing teams to ensure we have sufficient stock to fulfil orders and that items are packaged ready for collection.
  • Book shipments with shipping partners and provide clear communication to P2i stakeholders regarding lead times. Where items are not in stock, manage expectations internally regarding delivery.
  • Proactively working with shipping partners and P2i technical teams to understand requirements for shipping goods into new territories.
  • Troubleshoot in-flight shipments, responding to and resolving any issues holding up delivery.
  • Manage shipping paperwork, ensuring documentation is saved in a logical manner.
  • Assist the business by providing historic shipping information for customs purposes.
  • Challenge the status-quo, reviewing our existing processes and driving improvement where appropriate and identifying cost saving opportunities.
  • Align with China supply chain teams, identifying opportunities where shipping requests may be best served from China office.
  • Compile monthly reports on Logistics activities.

Additional Responsibilities


  • Raise purchase requests, chase approvals and place orders with suppliers.
  • Manage open supplier orders, ensuring the supplier delivers goods in line with expected delivery dates.
  • SAP housekeeping, ensure data is accurate.
  • Participate in regular team briefing and reviews, working as part of close-knit team.
  • During busy periods, assist the warehousing teams with goods in/out processes.
  • Assist the team with periodic stock takes.

Key Relationships and Interfaces


This role will interact with internal and external stakeholders at all levels including the Supply Chain/Manufacturing team, Engineering/R&D, Customer Support & Service Engineers, and Finance.


Skills & Experience


Essential:

  • Educated to at least grade (A-C) GCSE

Other Requirements:


  • Competent in the use of MS Office packages, specifically Excel.
  • Knowledge of global shipping protocols and experience of moving chemicals & equipment across borders.
  • Knowledge of SAP/ERP Purchasing and Logistics.
  • Lean Manufacturing (including 5s).
  • NCR & 8D Processes and problem-solving techniques.
  • HNC / HND in Manufacturing or Accounting or a related field is desirable.
  • Experience of participating in supplier audits.
  • Ability to arrange logistics operations globally.
  • Implementation of Packaging Standards.
  • Keen problem solver with the ability to take a problem, research potential solutions and report back to drive decision making.
  • Able to thrive in a high-stress and fast-paced environment.
  • Impeccable attention to detail,efficient organisation, and communication skills
  • Excellent relationship management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external teams.
