Severn Trent Water has radically transformed its supply chain into an industry-leading entity by creating a new fit for purpose supply chain framework including warehousing, technology, self-service stores, standardised materials and Imprest supplier-managed stock. Key to this is analysing and interpreting a wide range of data to report on performance, carrying out root cause analysis to identify and role out improvement initiatives for both Severn Trent and our framework suppliers, whilst also ensuring we are holding the correct stocking levels across multiple sites through demand analysis and customer forecasting.

For this role as Supply Chain Analytics Manager we require somebody who has excellent leadership skills and who has previous experience in an analytically focused role, and is performance driven to lead the Supply Chain Analytics team. They will use their skills and data to help drive our long-term strategy.

Our ideal candidate will have overall end-to-end supply chain experience with an analytical and forward thinking mindset. We want you to be a strategic thinker and someone with confidence to manage and drive performance from our suppliers. You’ll be an expert communicator with a proven track record of influencing people at all levels of an organisation as well as possessing strong team leadership and management skills. We’d expect you to have a strong understanding of materials management systems and our ideal candidate would have experience of SAP.

The base with be our site in Finham, Coventry where the rest of the team are based.

The long-term view is to in-source more of the materials that do not currently pass through our own supply chain. We currently spend £30m internally and £150m externally. This role is pivotal to making this change happen and ensuring it is done effectively and maximises the overall savings and operational benefits to Severn Trent.

Your key accountabilities in helping us on our journey will be:

You’ll lead a team accountable for our internal and suppliers’ performance, including ownership of all materials across all warehouse locations within Severn Trent.

You’ll lead and direct analytical workstreams within our supply chain to drive meaningful conclusions and drive improvement initiatives. As well as effectively improve a wide span of metrics such as customer (internal) compliance; Operational expenditure; supplier performance; carbon emissions; stock turn. You’ll instigate and drive root cause analysis projects related to poor performance metrics and implement improvement change programs.

Oversee the end-to-end materials replenishment process/inventory management across ST including setting min/max levels, MRP, increasing imprest stock and liaising with stakeholders to ensure optimal stocking of critical spares.

Help shape new tender requirements, working closely with a variety of procurement Category Managers. After award, continue working closely to improve supplier performance. Work as part of cross departmental contract mobilisation teams on newly awarded tenders.

Build effective relationships with key stakeholders within the operational teams to understand future projects, ensuring no risk in supply of materials. Provide regular updates to the operations lead, communicating progress against workstreams and risks in an effective manner.

Lead monthly performance reviews to senior management and develop a smarter forecast methodology that allows <3% variance to forecast.

Seek opportunities to insource more material through this function and increase the span of the analytics team to include activities within the wider supply chain department.
