Carbon 60 are recruiting for our client, a leading manufacturer of equipment in the fields of temperature control and power generation. A requirement has become available for a Supplier Development Engineer to provide assurance of supplier onboarding, product onboarding, supplier performance management with a specific relation to quality, cost, delivery, and reliability of products. This role reports through the procurement structure and will support the supply chain onboarding, performance and development activities interacting across all areas. Please note that this role will include travel across the UK and Europe. Ideally, you would be based within commutable distance to their facility just outside of Glasgow but we will consider candidates UK wide who would be willing to travel to the Glasgow site a couple of times per week. In this role, you will be supplied with a travel allowance and subsidies for travelling / staying away from home. You will also be eligible for an annual 10% bonus scheme. Key Responsibilities include:

  • Support supplier on-boarding to assure the selection of suitable suppliers for the business.
  • Contribute to supplier audits and participate in information reviews as part of a team that manages risks related to supplier onboarding.
  • Support activities within the Commodity Management Team to improve supplier assurance, delivery, and performance for the assigned commodity areas.
  • Assess and report the ongoing performance of suppliers. Where required, you will develop and improve supplier performance to assure a strong level of performance and compliance.
  • Support the business by developing and agreeing the standards that the business expect their products to meet. Coordinate and communicate our expectations to the supply chain and ensure supplier products and controls meet our expectations.
  • Analyse supplier related performance data to understand risks in the supply chain. Coordinate improvement activities to reduce supply chain risks.
  • Support the onboarding of products which are included in our New Product Development (NPD) projects. This will include the requalification of products due to sourcing changes.
  • Support change control activities resulting from adjustments to design, manufacture, or materials. Coordinate PPAP activities, organise evidence of compliance and organise product approvals resulting from engineering changes.
  • Control incidences of non-conformance relating to product failure. Work proactively with suppliers to correct, contain and improve where non-conformance occurs.
  • Contribute to functional team objectives and contribute to the success of the business.

Who we’re looking for You will have a higher education in an Engineering, Quality or Procurement management subject, an ISO 9001:2015 Certified Lead Auditor is also desirable. At least 2 years’ experience of working in supplier development and assurance with experience in supplier auditing. The individual must also have experience with working in a high value capital equipment manufacturing environment with responsibility for product and process control. You must also hold a full, clean, and valid driving license to travel to supplier sites as and when needed. You will be a confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills and with flexibility, self-motivation, and the capability to work on your own initiative.
