Through funding from South West London NHS CCG, we are expanding our suicide support related work across the six boroughs of Croydon, Kingston, Merton, Richmond, Sutton and Wandsworth. In addition to our Suicide Postvention Project that provides support to people who have bereaved by suicide, we will deliver a three-year project to provide Suicide Prevention work and activities across these localities.

We are seeking two enthusiastic, skilled and experienced people in coordinating a programme of community based activities, engaging and working with local agencies, services, diverse populations groups, around mental health education, campaigning and promotion.

CYP / Educational Coordinator - the focus will be to support and deliver suicide prevention activities in identified clusters, including school communities, educational institutions, CMHT’s and children and young people’s health services and agencies.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Experience of developing and delivering outreach initiatives
Knowledge of either statutory health services and/ voluntary sector in relation to children and young people services, and working across organisational boundaries
Knowledge of educational settings and working effectively with a range of professionals
Demonstrable track record of building effective working relationships and partnerships and to effectively communicate with a diverse range of people -
Ability to record activities, collate and present briefings and reports monitoring and evaluating projects
Experience of working with those with lived experience
Self-motivated and work autonomously across a large geographical area
Knowledge and awareness and understanding of equality issues
Strong self-organisation and ability to self-manage
Strong understanding of key issues and challenges related to suicide prevention
Knowledge of key mental health issues in relation to children and young people
Knowledge of relevant and appropriate services for suicide prevention support
IT skills and ability to use Microsoft office software
Ability to multi task and meet conflicting deadlines and priorities
Empathy and a positive attitude to mental health
Flexible approach to meet the demands and outcomes of the project, such as evening meetings where required
