We are recruiting for a Substance Misuse Nurse to work on a permanent basis. The role is based with a charity who support patients with drug, alcohol and other addictions in an outpatient service.The employer is an outstanding charity with a clear vision to improve the lives of its service users andare on a mission to help people change the direction of their lives, to grow as individuals, and live life to its full potential.About The Role
  • Undertake physical and mental health assessments for people who access our services whenindicatedby clinical need and ensureappropriate signposting/referral to primary care orappropriate secondaryhealth care services foridentifiedhealthissues
  • Provideeducation, health promotion and screening for blood borne viruses (BBV).ProvideHepatitis B vaccinations whenindicated
  • Contribute to the companies Naloxone Strategy by training staff and service users in the use of Naloxone. Ensuring Naloxone is distributed to service users at everyopportunity
  • Develop therapeutic alliances with people who have substance misuse problems and develop effective partnerships withthem
  • Ensure that procedures are constantly reviewed to promote best practice andevidencedbased practicein accordance withUK Guidelines on Clinical Management, NICE guidance, and clinical protocols and procedures
  • Provideharm reduction advice to injecting service users,providinginformation and equipment and ensure all equipment is disposed of safely
  • Record and input client data and information in order that the serviceoperateswithin contractual, administrative, and financial requirements
About You
  • First level registered nurse with recent relevant post qualification experienceand a current PIN
  • Relevant recent experience of working within drug and alcohol treatment (desirable but not essential)
  • Sound and demonstrable knowledge of harm reduction and health promotion interventions
  • Ability to assess and recovery plan service users and formulate written reports, as necessary
  • Clinical auditing skills to inform evaluation of the service andidentifyareas for development
