We have an exciting opportunity to work with our prestigious Higher education client based in Regents Park. We are recruiting for a Sports Officer; this is an immediate start date and currently until Mid-April. The role is paying £15.80.

As a Sports Officer you will be required to lead on the planning, managing, and implementing of opportunities for participation in physical activity, recreational and competitive sport that will appeal and enhance the student experience.

The main areas of responsibility for the role are:

  • Create a vibrant and motivational environment, which encourages and inspires a greater level of activity by our students and staff.

  • To work with colleagues to implement a coordinated programme of sporting and active recreation for a range of local, regional and national groups concentrating on activities suitable for students and staff whilst maximising the use of University grounds and surrounding parks.

  • To maintain effective partnerships with internal partners, including all university faculties and professional services.

  • To assist in monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of delivered sporting programmes along with an event and activities timetable including the review of income and expenditure and implementing changes, where required, to improve quality and effectiveness.

  • To promote wellbeing by coordinating and developing a new programme of activities for students and staff. To assist in developing existing recreational sport activity and introducing new activities / events, consistent with facility availability.

  • To assist with student development and volunteering opportunities that may arise, through relationships with other institutions, Sport England or UK Sport etc.

  • To work with the Student Union to help improve sports clubs and societies status, function and membership and to encourage the development of new sport clubs with a view to them becoming affiliated with National Governing Bodies and competing in the BUCS / local authority sports development teams.

  • To create regular reports on sport and fitness participation and work with the appointed provider to provide management reports on membership uptake and service level agreements

  • Obtain monthly membership reports from the gym, record internally and report at the Student Affairs Committee (or subsequent iteration).
