MYDoc Specialty Doctor in Ophthalmology (Part Time - 6 PA’s)

Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust is pleased to announce the introduction of these new roles aimed at doctors who are passionate about their practice and their career outside traditional models. Our posts will combine education and career development with practical patient-facing care.

This post is not a recognised UK training post. Nevertheless, MYDoc doctors will have a named supervisor and be supported in undertaking scheduled educational opportunities to consolidate and develop alongside their experiential learning, with certificated outcomes or credentialing to support career progression through other routes.

An Introduction to the Division/Specialty from Mr Narendra Dhingra

The Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust is a large multi-site Trust whose ambitious programme to reconfigure services in line with leading national and international care delivery models completed in 2017. There is a purpose-built new Eye Centre at the Pinderfields site which started in April 2015. The Ophthalmology department at Mid Yorkshire is one of the busiest in the region, we have services at all the 3 hospital sites Pinderfields, Pontefract and Dewsbury. We see more than 65,000 patients. The Department is one of the best equipped departments. We have an ethos of team working and we work in various teams which include Doctors, Nurses, Orthoptists, Optometrists, Eye Clinic and a Liaison officer. The department has at all three sites Spectralis OCT, Coloured Fundus Camera, Visual Fields machine, B-Scan with UBM probes, Zeiss IOL master, Stellaris Phaco machine with Zeiss Operating microscope Lumera T, Pachymetry. The department is also equipped with Anterior Segment OCT, Corneal Topography. The Department has also recently won the Contract to provide Diabetic Retinal Screening services across Wakefield, North Kirklees and Leeds area.

The Department also provides lots of opportunities to do Research and is part of many Multinational Research projects.

Applicants will be eligible for the post of Specialty Doctor as described in Terms and Conditions of Service for Specialty Doctors – England (2008) and will be remunerated as appropriate on the salary scale MC75 (£50,373 to £78,759) pro rata per annum.

This post is offered on a part time 6 programmed activity basis (5.5 DCC PA’s and 0.5 SPA PA’s).
