Job Overview

The Anaesthetics Department at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic new specialty doctor to join our team.

The post consists of provision of anaesthesia on supervised weekday elective operating lists, and evening and weekend resident cover for emergency theatres, labour ward or critical care. The successful applicant will join a 1 in 9 resident rota (one of four out-of-hours resident rotas in anaesthetics and critical care).

Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • Medical degree

Desirable criteria

  • FRCA or equivalent level qualification

Training courses attended

Desirable criteria

  • Management course
  • Courses relevant to sub-specialty interests

Membership professional body

Essential Criteria

  • In good standing with the General Medical Council

Desirable criteria

  • Membership of societies relevant to stated sub-specialty interest
  • Membership of professional groups relevant to all anaesthetists

Training

Essential Criteria

  • Training background relevant for the job

Desirable criteria

  • Experience of training in a UK training position of at least one year

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Broad based general experience in anaesthesia.
  • General experience in paediatric anaesthesia.
  • Shall have completed at least four years’ full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part-time or flexible basis) at least three of which will be in a specialty training programme in a relevant specialty or as a fixed term specialty trainee in a relevant specialty; or.

Desirable criteria

  • Clinical experience outside anaesthesia.
  • Specialist skills or experience.
  • Experience of high volume orthopaedic lists
  • Experience of enhanced recovery programmes

Audit

Essential Criteria

  • Evidence of participation and understanding.

Desirable criteria

  • Evidence of completed audit projects that have changed practice.

Teaching

Essential Criteria

  • Evidence of a commitment to teaching anaesthetic trainees.
  • Evidence of teaching trainees

Desirable criteria

  • Evidence of teaching nursing and paramedical staff and medical students.
  • Teaching course.
  • Teaching qualification
  • Accredited trainer e.g. for ATLS, MOET.
  • Experience of using simulation in medical education.
