Job description

You will have an extensive background in this area of Intrusive Operations either in UK Law Enforcement, Military or UKIC. You will be a qualified Type E Operator or if not, an experienced covert surveillance operator with CROP qualifications and experience.

This is an extremely sensitive area of work, candidates with relevant surveillance experience and CROP qualifications successful at paper sift will receive a fuller briefing prior to Interview.

Intelligence Collection - coordinates NCA collection capabilities against the Agency’s highest priorities. Intelligence Collection includes forensics, open source, covert human intelligence sources, undercover officers and technical collection capabilities.

***All NCA officers must hold SC Enhanced upon entry as a minimum. To meet the National Security Vetting requirements for this role you will need to have resided in the UK for a minimum of 3 out of the past 5 years. Successful candidates will need to successfully complete DV clearance and STRAP & Section 19 within the first 12 months as part of your probation period. Responsibilities

On a day to day basis you will be practising and enhancing your Type E skills and capabilities, planning and delivering Operational activity, liaising with other National and International Agencies,
You can expect to work both in the UK and Overseas, at short notice and in adverse conditions. You will be expected to keep fit for role and continuously develop your personal skills.

Qualifications

The following qualifications/skills are essential to the role and proof will be required at interview:

  • College of Policing or MOD/Agency accreditation in foot and mobile Covert Surveillance.

Please ensure the dates of any accreditations you are relying on, are entered on to the CV.

Should you progress to the assessment stage of the process, you will be required to provide a copy of the original certificate.

Failure to provide evidence at interview may result in your application not progressing to the next stage.

  • High degree of mechanical aptitude. Good mechanical hand skills and ability to use small hand tools.

  • Operational experience in deploying on covert operations.
  • Proven experience of leading a team working in a covert environment to tight deadlines.

Benefits

If you are an active police pension member immediately prior to joining the NCA, you can continue your membership throughout your employment with us as if you were a serving police officer. If you do remain an active member and subsequently return to a police force, you should be able to continue your membership there too.

A Special Duties Bonus Payment of £1200 is currently paid to qualified SSOs.

Aptitude tests will take place just before the interview.
