Specialist Clinical Psychologist - Paediatric, Band 8a

The Royal United Hospitals Bath Paediatric Psychology department is delighted to announce the opportunity for a Clinical Psychologist to join our team. This is a diverse and varied fulltime 8A role working in Paediatric Oncology, General Paediatrics and Tuberous Sclerosis.

It is an exciting time to work in Paediatric Psychology at the Royal United Hospital as services continue to grow and develop. Psychology into General Paediatrics and Paediatric Oncology has been established for 2 years and has been extremely valued and welcomed by staff and service users. The post into Tuberous Sclerosis is new and the post holder will have the opportunity to establish a brand new psychology service into this speciality.

The successful candidate will enjoy having a varied caseload and working in a diverse role using different psychological models and approaches. This post includes working in multidisciplinary teams with complex presentations, and may involve longer term systemic and family work. However, this is balanced with less complex presentations which respond well to 1:1 brief CBT/ACT interventions. An interest in cognitive assessments would be an advantage for parts of the post.

A general enthusiasm for all child and adult health psychology is welcome as there are opportunities to gain experience in other specialties within the trust.

The ideal candidate will be organised, autonomous and self-motivated and will enjoy the challenge of building new services and developing interventions for patient care. We welcome innovative and imaginative ideas, which work within a busy hospital environment.

The post is advertised as full-time and working around key team meetings is essential, however we are open to conversations around flexible working.

Due to the nature of the post, the post-holder will be a reflective practitioner and aware of their own self-care needs. We are committed to staff wellbeing and supporting each other and value peer support. The RUH site has a number of outside green spaces and an on-site outdoor swimming pool available to staff.

The RUH has a rapidly increasing number of Clinical Psychologists across many areas. Clinical Psychology services within other specialities including Paediatric Pain are developing and the post holder will be expected to develop these service links. This post is advertised alongside a post for Paediatric Pain at Bath Centre for Pain Services (BCPS).
