About The Opportunity

Drive the development of spatial data infrastructure and governance for NDA and the wider NDA Group Companies.

The Data Architect will break down siloed data working practices which currently exist across the NDA Group companies, ultimately providing a data rich spatial platform which shall enable timely data driven decision making and for the NDA to realise the benefits of their group-wide GIS capability.

The Data Architect will build on best practice from the NDA Group and innovate using the latest software and cloud infrastructure.

Responsible for spatial data governance and management and leveraging data to maximum effect.

Provide technical leadership to define the NDA Group spatial data architecture including schema definitions and data connection protocols.

Design, develop, test, document and deploy spatial data models and datasets to support the GIS teams across the group.

Work to overcome connectivity challenges between NDA group companies.

Develop and maintain spatial data management processes.

Manage metadata inventory to ensure data quality, ownership, lineage and currency is maintained.

Ensuring all relevant documentation is up to date and complete in line with the NDA group data governance.

Automate spatial data flows to support the capability including developing schema and geometry validation techniques.

Identifying, documenting and exploiting Spatial data opportunities across NDA group to ensure the more efficient and effective ways of working.

Ensure alignment with current and future NDA group initiatives and strategies such as the NDA Group Digital Asset strategy

Here’s What You’ll Need

The required skills and experience for a Spatial Data Architect closely align to the gov.uk definitions of a Data Architect and can be found https//www.gov.uk/guidance/data-architect.

Degree or postgraduate qualification in a GIS or IT-related subject or relevant work-based experience.

Significant experience of GIS including common concepts, algorithms and data formats.

Professional experience of working with the ESRI software stack.

Experience with ETL (extract, transform, load) software, such as Safe Software FME.

Significant experience in working with a range of spatial data sources with an ability to add value using external data sources.

Experience with UML modelling notation and tools, ArcGIS Server / ArcSDE administration, ArcGIS Python scripting, Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL.

Extensive knowledge of Ordnance survey products.
