The Farmers Arms Pub is seeking a Sous Chef. Our food ethos is local, foraged, fresh and sustainable. Everything made in house or supplied by quality vendors who help to support our community. We have our own farm to supply fresh produce and meat as well. Currently we have our Large Black pigs and Grey Faced Dartmoor sheep on the menu, so if farm to table interests you, this could be the right fit. The menu will change regularly, depending on season and what is available locally. The style of service is casual and welcoming and the food centres around a British flavour profile and pub classics done to a high, and creative, standard under the direction of Executive Chef Ian Webber. There is a chance for development across the larger scale of the project, as we are opening a restaurant in the Manor hotel and a bakery to accompany our village shop. Both are currently under construction with the expectation of launching within the next two years. You will need a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a kitchen, with a strong management background. This position will be best filled by a leader with good communication skills. We are also offering a high season bonus program where if you are employed with us from 1st July to 1st November you will receive a £500 bonus. Job Duties: Running of service from the pass, or stepping into any section as needed Maintaining the very highest standards of food production, hygiene, cleanliness and following Health & Safety procedures. Supervising cleaning schedules Work well in a team environment with the customers experience always being paramount Have a good attitude, be open minded to new techniques, a different perspective and a willingness to learn in order to create something special Cross training to all stations Ability to work full time, flexible hours within a 48 hour per week contract. Our aim is to have a work life balance, offering 4 days on/3 days off per week.
