We are looking for a Sous Chef for an exciting New Project - The Bird or Worm Bar. This is truly a wonderful opportunity for the right individual to join our team and be part of this very exciting new project. We are looking for team members who can offer ideas and creativity as resplendent as the decor itself.

Mid 2021, we will be opening the doors to a brand new site on Newmarket Road, Cambridge. The Bird or Worm Bar will become the latest member of the Wilson Vale portfolio and will serve both the public and office staff who occupy the adjoining building.

Quite simply we are looking for the best talent Cambridge has to offer. We will be responsible for not only cooking the food, but also creating new and exciting concepts for our Client’s hospitality and staff meals.

We will be working with the very best local food suppliers and breweries to ensure that the food offering hits the mark.

In terms of style the menu will range from Bar Snacks which may include items such as homemade scotch eggs,pig scratchings to small British Tapas plates, or occasionally fine dining hospitality. The food will be simple, but executed with flavour and flair in mind.

We will be offering high end cocktails and some local classics.

The Sous Chef role is based on 40 hours per week - Monday to Friday working from 11.30am until 7.300pm catering for around 200. The successful candidate will become part of a team of 6 people and will report to the Chef Manager for the site.

Attention to detail is essential, a passion for producing consistently exceptional standards of work. Energy, enthusiasm and experience of working in a busy restaurant is ideal.

We are a contract catering company that provides a fresh food service, serving seasonal and innovative food to a rosette standard

All of our food is fresh, seasonal and innovative and you will be involved in designing the menus for each service, so the ability to be innovative and creative is essential.

As Sous Chef you will;

  • Be responsible for the daily operation of the kitchen and the preparation and cooking of all types of dishes.
  • Be responsible, dedicated and a strong leader with the ability to manage a small team
  • Be able to train and develop your team supportively and professionally.
  • Deliver consistent food standards following the Wilson Vale brand standards.
  • Deliver fresh, seasonal and innovative food from around the world.
  • Be able to interact and engage with people while the food is being served.
