We’re looking for someone to join our team as Sous Chef.You’d be working with us at the Royal Oak, a community owned pub restaurant, in the rural Nottinghamshire village of Collingham.

Joining our team would give you the chance to progress your career, working alongside our Head Chef, creating dishes to delight our guests.

ABOUT US

The Royal Oak re-opened as a community owned pub restaurant in August 2019. As a focal centre of the village of Collingham we attract a loyal following from the local community as well as visitors to the nearby Newark Showground and those passing on their journey to Lincoln, Newark, Gainsborough and beyond.

Serving a varied menu throughout the day as well as catering for private dining, events and functions we’re ready to take the next step in our food offering.Naturally, we pride ourselves in serving a wide range of homemade dishes, using fresh ingredients, and working closely with local suppliers.

ABOUT YOU

We are looking for a confident, experienced and professional Sous Chef to join our kitchen team to work alongside our Head Chef. Knowledge and experience of working with fresh ingredients is vital. This is a fantastic opportunity to further develop your experience in all aspects of running the kitchen alongside our Head Chef, including menu creation, suppliers, team development and all other elements of being a sous chef in an independently run community owned business.

The right candidate will be a hardworking, motivated, enthusiastic professional and have previous experience leading a team in a busy, high quality, fast paced kitchen environment.

Duties to include:

  • Manage all activities in the kitchen, including food preparation and production, and management and training of kitchen staff
  • Ensure efficient, cost-effective operation and profitability of food production
  • Supervise and inspect all preparation and cooking equipment on a regular basis to ensure that they are kept clean, sanitary, and in perfect operating order
  • Ensure that food products, presentation, and plating are of the highest quality, and are prepared to serve in a timely manner
  • Assume the role as Head Chef in his or her absence
  • Assure adherence to all standards of food quality, preparation, recipes, and presentation in conjunction with the specifications
  • Monitor holding and storage operations, stocking and food rotation, and guarantee food service sanitation standards are met
  • Assure kitchen personnel is trained in best cleanliness and sanitation practices
