Description
It’s an exciting time to join our ServiceNow team here at AXA, with significant investment planned in all UK&I businesses to transform, deliver new digital services to our customers, and streamline and automate our business processes. To help us develop and maintain our ServiceNow platform, we are looking for a highly talented person who can help support the evolution of the modules we have already deployed and work with key partners and stakeholders to deliver new ones. Here you will gain fantastic exposure to the full engineering lifecycle and the latest technology.

The role will report to one of our Lead Engineers and you will be liaising with various teams across AXA companies in the UK & Ireland, utilising your excellent analytical skills, in helping to develop our use of existing ServiceNow modules within agreed processes.

You’ll work at least 40% of your week away from home, either at one of our office locations, with travel to Teesside, Bolton, Bristol, or Weybridge office visiting clients or attending industry events. What you’ll be doing:
  • Develop solutions to the required quality, design, coding, performance, and security standards, in a fast-paced agile environment
  • Test solutions thoroughly and prioritise the use of automated testing standards and techniques
  • Ensure quality and continuous improvement through design reviews, code reviews and retrospectives
  • Take collective ownership for the platform, responding to its needs for stability and availability and by being consistent with agreed platform principles
  • Provide technical investigation of user requirements to facilitate accurate story estimation
  • Work closely with colleagues to share knowledge and ensure the continuous growth of our
  • community-oriented environment
  • Evaluate the potential automation of software and system solutions to ensure eradication of toil wherever possible. Understand the impact of unplanned work such as defects and rework and take appropriate measures to reduce this wherever possible
  • Provide clear and accurate Route Cause Analysis on all resolved system bugs. Demonstrate appropriate steps to improve platform documentation as well as automation and integration tests to reduce likelihood of repeated instances of the defect

What we’re looking for:
  • Previous experience within a software engineering and development role
  • Understanding of end-to-end IT solutions and the IT delivery lifecycle in an agile environment
  • Previous experience of working on the ServiceNow platform is desirable
  • Awareness of ITIL and service management processes
  • Strong attention to detail and quality
  • Ability to work on multiple simultaneous tasks and able to work in a team or on your own
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies, skills, and methodologies
  • Experience in building strong relationships with colleagues and stakeholders
  • Working knowledge of the following technologies:
    • JavaScript
    • Bootstrap
    • AngularJS
    • React
