Software Team Leader– ATE – Chelmsford - £60K

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Software Team Leader to lead a team of engineers in the design and development of software used in automated test equipment (ATE) to test and operate Imaging Sensors used in Space and science applications. As the Team Leader and Senior Software Engineer, the ideal candidate will design and deliver software solutions (50%), while supporting and providing leadership to the team (50%).

Duties will include:

  • Lead a small team of Software Engineers
  • Design, develop and deliver control, acquisition and analysis software using LabVIEW and MATLAB
  • Deliver software work packages and associated documentation, such as test plans and test reports
  • Configuration control and management
  • Contribute to the roadmap for ATE software and test equipment
  • Ownership, Maintenance & Delivery of the Software Development Plan (SDP)
  • Drive quality
  • Provide Engineering support to other divisions within the business
  • Work alongside teams outside of the Test Software group, including Electronics, Firmware, Project Management and Product Verification to develop and deliver ATE

Skills & Experience:

  • Automated Test Equipment (ATE) software design experience
  • Broad test engineering experience
  • Previous software team leadership experience gained as Senior Software Engineer, Lead Software Engineer, Team Leader or similar
  • LabVIEW or MATLAB
  • Experience of structured software development processes.
  • Experience of test development and fault finding
  • Good Leadership and communication skills
  • Technically proficiency in one or more of C#, C++, Python.
  • Knowledge of electronics principles and/or device physics of Charge Coupled Devices, CMOS image detectors and associated Read out ICs (ROICs) is desirable.
