The main responsibility of the Software Development Manager is to own the software engineering activities in Gas Analysis, coordinate all common processes and tools as well as continuously developing the SW development team’s proficiencies and capability. They will also drive the development of a technology strategy for Gas Analysis products and services.


Principle job responsibilities


• Lead the Software Development department and continuously develop team proficiencies based on updated competency gap assessments
• Cultivate innovation within the team
• Own the company software technology strategies and develop long term vision and goals for software and related technologies in company product offerings
• Own and keep updated the software development processes and related documents, guidelines and procedures
• Be the primary digital technology adviser to Product Management teams, and actively contribute to develop the technology road maps
• Overall responsibility for the software development quality within NPD and Sustaining Engineering activities
• Ensure the continuous improvement processes within the department
• Verify that the team is updated on software engineering standards and assess the need for adapting processes and methods to meet standards required by the industry
• Ensure all activities within the Software Development department are aligned with priorities set by the Product Management and Operations teams and driven by the E&D Project & Planning Manager
• Plan and follow-up utilisation of department resources based on these priorities
• Recommend efficient use of resources in studies, projects and sustaining activities
• Support the Project & Planning department in the development of efficient resource planning processes, specifically within software development
• Actively participate in design and architecture reviews
• Final approver in software field related engineering tasks
• Contribute in conceptual and architectural design work
• Develop and cultivate relationship with other Emerson and 3rd party expertise within the subject area


Required qualifications & experience
• Min 7 years of experience with software development, preferably embedded
• Min 4 years of experience with senior or lead positions within product development
• Min Engineering degree within software or computer science, or proven knowledge at the same level
