Software Engineering Manager | S3 | CDO | Milton Keynes Country: United Kingdom

We are seeking for a Software Engineering Manager to work within CDO to technically lead and/or support programmes covering depth and breadth of the banking domain. A forward-thinking problem-solver for the development and rapid delivery of next-generation platform solutions and prototypes, and who seeks and uses the right tool for the job.

Someone who will drive the technical decisions of an engineering squad and will push and develop the more junior members of the team.

Within the CDO Data Engineering Team, you’ll be developing and delivering solution covering (but not restricted to) ETL, BI, MI reporting and analytics solutions. As part of our different Agile Product Teams we are looking for team players who understands what Agile means and who understands the importance of testing automation and continuous integration and delivery.

The difference you’ll make:

  • Deciding with the rest of the team the best technical solution for the challenges ahead, ensuring best practices are applied to maximise quality of delivery

  • Developing user stories working solo or pairing with a colleague. Discussing functional and technical solutions with the different stakeholders in the business, UX designers, architecture, and engineering managers to ensure user stories are refined and understood at the correct level

  • Writing the automated testing required to ensure your stories meet the criteria to be considered “Done”

  • Ensuring delivered solutions are developed under DevOps practices and latest technology trends

  • Delivering batch, near real time and real time solution for huge data volume with necessary controls, checks and audit information ensuring required data governance are met

  • Providing optimal approach to migrate legacy solution to target bigdata, AWS platforms whilst minimising incidents and maximising quality of service

What you’ll bring:

  • Demonstrable experience in managing data transformation projects and working on data archival and data migration experience

  • Experience using GitHub, Jira, Jenkins during the development lifecycle as well as using automated tools to evaluate robustness, quality and vulnerabilities of the code developed

  • Experience in Solution Design and applying DevOps principles into the Software Lifecycle

  • Strong understanding of Cloud, data governance, data privacy and relevant regulation for using and retaining data

  • Hands-on experience in SQL, Spark, Python, Snowflake

  • Experience of using various AWS services for datalake. data warehouse and ML applications,

It would also be nice for you to have:

  • Experience of using agile methodologies

  • Experience of managing OPEX cost optimally on AWS platform

  • Able to manage a variety of stakeholders at all levels

  • Knowledge of Pega smart Investigate and Pega Smart Dispute Framework

  • AWS Certificated Solution Architect and Professional Scrum Master and SAFe5 Agilist

This role is based in Milton Keynes and our current expectation is at least 2 days in an office every week.

1st Stage – Technical Interview – this will a 30min technical interview with one of the team

2nd Stage – A one-hour formal interview where we will ask both technical and competency-based questions. This can be done virtually or face to face depending on your situation.

  • Eligible for a discretionary performance-related annual bonus
