Software Engineer (Data) - Java, Kafka, AWS - 5 ROLES
£65,000

One of Manchesters flagship employers are in the process of building a new Greenfield global data platform that will transform their digital capabilities and offerings. This is a new large squad build (70+ hires) and a key part being the Data Engineers for an entirely new data team within the cross-functional team.

These roles are suited to a Data Engineer with experience in developing/maintaining data fabric (asynchronous messaging) and automating processes or alternatively a Software Engineer who has experience of configuring, fine-tuning and running Kafka and wants to make the transition into more of a pure Data Engineering role.

These roles provide a rare opportunity to grow a new data function with real scope to have an impact and see value from your work in the real world. There is real possibility for the successful Data Engineers to move into Technical Lead roles for the squads or even the entire data group.

With Data very much at the heart of this new global platform this build will use data collectively to utilise and improve many processes across the business. There is a big push on new tech (Data Mesh, Data Ingestion, Data Pipelines / Pipeline as a Service model) and move to a pure DevOps model (Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes) which will offer challenges aplenty.

You will a good level of commercial experience with Kafka, Apache Avro and AWS along with a natural appreciation for DevOps/DevSecOps practices. An interest in data fabric engineering would be a major bonus!
