Job Purpose

The Sophos Labs team is at the heart of Sophos providing the core operations, research, and automation that Sophos products use to protect businesses from known and emerging threats.

We have a fantastic opportunity within the Sophos Labs team for a Senior Software Developer in Test to join our content QA Team – our skilled team of engineers delivering test automation frameworks to our Threat Research and Threat Response teams for the purpose of assuring the quality of updates to threat protection that Sophos Labs publish to Sophos products.

You will collaborate with our threat research teams to understand the quality requirements of the content that they are developing. Working with them to formulate and deliver test scenarios, along with the test automation platforms and frameworks that enable those scenarios to be repeated reliably and efficiently to support the rapid delivery of new protection content at the point of need.

You will be passionate about quality and about engaging with technical stakeholders to bring them on that quality journey. Further, you will have a proven track record of delivering automated systems and the DevOps processes needed to support them.

As a senior member of the team, you will champion technical leadership and innovation to an established team of QA engineers.

As a company focused on Cybersecurity, we’re particularly looking for candidates with commercial experience in, or a demonstrable passion for, the computer security field. Further, a candidate coming from a SOC environment where the Mitre ATT&CK framework has been employed will be a strong fit for this role.

Duties & responsibilities

o Collaborating with Threat Researchers and content owners:

· Formulating test scenarios

· Automating test scenarios in respective test frameworks

· Test case review

o Developing and maintaining test automation frameworks.

· Working with CI/CD systems and processes

· Creating and working with appropriate test data.

o Setting up and maintaining dashboards for reporting quality performance metrics

o Teaching others good quality and testing practices.

o Developing tools and processes to assist manual and exploratory testing.

Skills and experience:

The successful candidate has extensive experience working with highly skilled teams to support their quality criteria through the design and implementation of test cases and the management of those test cases within a robust test automation environment

o Proficiency in programming preferably Python3 and/or Perl

o Recent and extensive use of the Robot automation framework or another keyword-driven automation framework

o In-depth knowledge of the Windows operating system

o Knowledge of AWS cloud technologies

o Experience in computer security field/role

o Experience with virtualization, cluster management, and distributed systems

o Mentoring and leadership within a team of software, system, or QA engineers

o Familiarity working in SCRUM and the Agile framework
