We are currently looking for social worker with one year or more post qualifying experience. If you join our Service, you will have access to a range of post-qualifying training and learning opportunities, many of which are delivered in partnership with our local university. For experienced staff joining us who want to develop their career as Practice Educators or Consultant Social Workers, you will have access to training and CPD support. In every team there are opportunities to teach and to support students, including those on our Step up To Social Work programme. We current have vacancies within our front line teams in both Assessment and Children & Families First.

We are a service working on showing rapid improvement, because we face the same pressures and problems as other councils do, in terms of financial planning and the social impact of the ongoing pandemic on our communities.

BCP is an interesting and beautiful place to live and work. We aim to be the employer of choice in the sub-region. We put an emphasis on learning and development and we work closely with Bournemouth University on professional development programmes. Their social work courses are receiving ever greater recognition.

In an evolving council like ours, it is a race against time to be good enough to pass every test we might face. Recruiting new staff to join us on our improvement journey is a top priority as complex social care services are only as good as the front line staff who provide them. Children and families in BCP need you. In turn, we will look after you as an organisation, as social care is emotional labour. Staff need support just as they support others.

As part of our commitment to career development we actively encourage opportunities to transfer between services to allow the development of new skills and perspectives in the work. We have a graduated level of career progression for social workers and advancement is linked to increased salary reflective of the seniority and experience of the worker. We have a range of vacancies available at each of our three career progression levels across several different teams.

If you have strong social work values and are passionate about working with children, young people to keep them safe, and to support them and their families or carers to be the best they can be; then you are who we are looking for.

If you are interested to know more then please contact Jane Potter (jane.potter@bcpcouncil.gov.uk), who will link you up with the relevant Team Managers for a discussion about options within the teams. Leave your details and which area of service you are interested in and we will get back to you.

Relocation expenses of up to £8,000 may be available for an experienced candidate to support their relocation to the area.
