Job Title: UNILEVER MANUFACTURING SYSTEM MANAGER

Location: Port Sunlight Site, Wirral, UK

Background & Main Job Purpose

  • You will be a visible “UMS Champion” on site – passionately promoting and displaying the value of the zero-loss journey.
Key Accountabilities
  • This role responsible for delivering the UMS capability across the full PSL site to deliver business results
  • This role will define and lead the execution of the site UMS strategy to deliver excellence in manufacturing. It will play a key role in execution of this strategy across all technical pillars (Safety, Business Priority and Cost Deployment, Focused Improvement, Autonomous Maintenance, Professional Maintenance, Quality, Customer Service and Agility, Early Equipment Management, People Development and Environment).
  • The role will lead and drive the Site Continuous Improvement Cost Savings plan to achieve and accelerate savings
  • This role will provide skills development and coaching for Pillar Leaders, area leaders, engineers and operators and drive the staffing and succession planning for pillars leaders and work with the PD Pillar to drive pillar capability measurement through radar charts
  • The role will support the UMS culture change agenda ensuring that everyone understands the concept of the zero loss factory and believes in it. They will promote the spirit of continuous improvement and champion the value of the programme in all functions/areas of the site.
  • Own and drive Site Master planning and PDCA process
  • Own and drive Site benchmarking process to learn best in class results and approach from inside and outside Unilever
  • Own and drive site daily meeting process and capability

Skills
  • The ideal candidate will have strong problem solving and communication skills
  • They will possess a logical approach coaching problem solving
  • They will have a learning and “zero re-occurrence” mindset
  • They will be organised and have experience with project management
  • They will be people focused and able to influence and deliver through others
  • They will be experienced in coaching people and passionate about the development of others.
  • They will have experience leading people through change
  • They will be in touch with the shop floor and be able to Coach/ Mentor/ Instruct/ Manage as appropriate
  • Prior WCM or equivalent experience & knowledge of the methodology is an advantage
  • Prior experience as a process engineer and line/area leader in FMCG Making & Packing technologies is an advantage
