We are currently recruiting for a Shift Lead to join our Private Label Flavoured Milk & Ingredients department at our Severnside Dairy. The successful candidate will enable the milk & ingredients team to deliver targets and continuously improve performance by coaching and developing our people.
As a Shift Lead for the Private Label Flavoured Milk & Ingredients & Ingredients department at Severnside, you will be responsible for the production of a diverse range of products; Flavoured milk (PLFM) for our supermarket partners, butter, milk powder and cream which are used to produce a wide range of products in the UK and internationally. As well as meeting our daily production plan, you will be key to developing and growing your team. Experience of applying lean manufacturing techniques to identify opportunities to reduce waste and increase efficiency is required. You will also need to have a systematic and methodical approach, with the ability to lead and prioritise a cross functional team.
The shift pattern for this position is 4 on 4 off (2 days, 2 nights, 4 shifts off - 6AM/PM to 6PM/AM). This position will involve working both weekends and bank holidays.
In this role the key tasks of a Shift Lead will include:
  • Creating and delivering development plans for your team through Müller’s learning management systems
  • Creating succession pathways both up through and across the organisation
  • Proactive and reactive problem solving and facilitation, coaching the team to do the same.
  • Role modelling “Go, Look, See” by being present in the department.
  • Encouraging and enabling teams to seek out improvement opportunities and to own the delivery of projects
  • Creating succession and developmental pathways both up through and across the organisation
  • High level problem solving capability and facilitation skills
  • If issues arise, having a hands-on approach by visiting the workstation when called upon to help rectify the problem; collaborating with others for escalation
  • Coaching team members, enabling them and supporting them to solve problems
  • Enabling the team to create and deliver operational excellence opportunities
