Company DescriptionPart of the Culina Group, Great Bear is a leading 3rd party logistics business providing a wide range of ambient warehousing services, shared-user and dedicated transport solutions to a wide variety of customers alongside offering a flexible mix of added-value services to simplify supply chain.Job DescriptionDue to continued growth, an exciting opportunity has arisen for TWO Warehouse Shift Managers to join our fast-paced and friendly team in Heywood!With TWO vacancies comes the opportunities for1 DAY SHIFT and 1 NIGHT SHIFTavailable.As a Warehouse Shift Manager, you will be responsible fordelivering consistent performance, ensuring that all day to day aspects of the operation are managed proactively. You will also work alongside the Warehouse Operations Manager to fine tune the current operation and own responsibility for the day to day management of a large team.Main Responsibilities Of The Shift Manager Include
  • Manage team attendance, performance, productivity and accuracy levels, motivating team members to achieve high levels.
  • Co-ordinate and motivate the warehouse operation to ensure effective operational performance.
  • As part of the senior operations team drive continuous improvement within the warehouse, implementing plans to consistently improve the performance.
  • Responsible for shift manning and labour management to achieve workloads in a time sensitive operation.
  • Overall management and responsibility for achieving operational KPIs.
  • Maintain a good working knowledge of warehouse operational areas including returns, inventory control, co-pack, delivery schedules along with Health & Safety procedures.
  • Communicate confidently and effectively with staff, customers and other areas of the business to maintain and develop positive relationships.
  • Responsible for the promotion of Health & Safety within the warehouse promoting MHE and accountability.
  • Performance managing employees to ensure maximum productivity and taking appropriate steps to manage underperformance.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience within a similar management position, ideally within a 3PL environment.
  • Highly confident and proactive with the ability to motivate and drive employees.
  • An organised and focused approach to administrative duties.
  • Ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills with multi-customer experience and the ability to build effective relationships.
  • A proven leader with experience of managing a large team of 20+ employees in a busy warehouse.
  • Proven experience of all aspects of people management including probationary, attendance, performance and disciplinary matters.
  • PC literate including good working knowledge of MS packages and WMS.
  • Knowledge and experience of safe working practice inclusive of all Health & Safety elements.
  • A good working knowledge of full warehouse and logistics operations.
