You’ll be working for British Gypsum in Penrith. British Gypsum is one of more than 30 exciting Saint-Gobain brands in the UK. British Gypsum has over 100 years’ experience in plaster, plasterboardand ceiling solutions, they create innovative products which deliver meaningful customer benefits.

Is this role right for me?

The main purpose of the role is to inspire the Shift Team to perform to their best ability, to achieve optimum production performance in all manufacturing areas and to follow the agreed business systems and standards so as to support the delivery of the plant annual plan

We need someone who;
  • Is focussed on agreed results delivery through developing people by leading by example and ensuring full adherence to all site standards. Is able to work collaboratively with other shifts and readily shares success.
  • Qualification in supervisory management (ILM3 minimum)
  • Safety management (IOSH/NEBOSH)
  • Experience in a unionised manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated Leadership and data analysis skills
  • Ideally WCM practitioner in AM & FI

What will I be doing in the role?
  • Develop a "behavioural safety" culture for the shift team and manage the safe operations of the entire site during specified hours
  • Lead the team to cascade understanding and adherence to the EHS requirements specific to the shift team so as to encourage the creation of a safe and sustainable environment
  • Identify and develop shop-floor talent to ensure ongoing delivery of improving shift results through structured training plans and secondment opportunities
  • Production of reliable quality products as per product specification and in line with the agreed weekly production plan to ensure our customers’ expectations is met
  • Runs the site tour for customer visits to improve understanding of their expectations
  • Audit the shift team against compliance with SOPs, WCM standards and IMS systems
  • Sustain and assist with implementing the technical and/or process improvement actions identified and agreed
  • Report on shift performance through IN4.0RM and ensure full shift handover to oncoming shift
