Liberty Steel Group have an exciting opportunity for a Shift Engineer to join our Aldwarke Cast Products manufacturing site based in Rotherham. This is a great opportunity for a team leader looking to take the next step up or an experienced Shift Engineer who is looking to grow and develop their skillset and take on a role which provides first line management and supervision of the engineering shift team.

The ideal candidate will be meticulous in their planning and organisational skills as this role is essential to keep machinery breakdowns to a minimum, maximising plant availability and maintaining the highest levels of health and safety.

The Main Duties Of This Role Include
  • Determine engineering priorities & manage and plan engineers accordingly, liaising with shift operation managers across multiple disciplines of the business
  • Ensure all major engineering breakdowns & delays are effectively handled by the Shift engineering teams
  • Always ensure compliance of Liberty Speciality Steels SHE policies - conducting regular and routine audits of the engineering function, contractors, and production personnel
  • Determine and allocate the engineering resources and materials, in line with the Company Asset Management Framework order to optimise and improve the plant’s availability for production
  • Generate an effective handover of engineering activities using appropriate and agreed pass-on tools that will include the provision of a 24-hour engineering report
  • Ensure key objectives set out by the Day Engineering Management team are effectively managed & driven on shift including performance management & training
Strongly analytical and methodical in their approach to solving problems the ideal candidate must also be a strong communicator, have an approachable nature and a robust leadership ability which will motivate and support the workforce.

Qualifications & Experience
  • BTEC Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent HND or HNC
  • At least 3 years experience in either a Melting/Casting environment
  • A good appreciation of the steel process route and how engineering parameters can affect the steel supply and quality
  • A good working knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and the application in a Steelworks environment
