Job Title: SHEA Lead/ SHE Manager
Location: Gloucestershire
Salary: £35,000- £45,000 (depending on experience)


The purpose of these roles is to:

  • Manage a team of SHE Advisers in the Telecoms Business.

  • Work with the other SHE Manager in the Telecoms business.

  • Assist the Telecoms SHE Manager in their role as they strive to create a high performing state where they provide first class support to the Operations teams and together drive an improvement within SHEA performance across the division.

  • Maintain day to day activities as a SHE Adviser in your own areas of responsibility.


The overall aim of the SHE team is to ensure that:

  • The highest possible standards of SHEA responsibility are implemented across the business.

  • Coaching and mentoring support is provided as required.

  • Operations are fully supported.

  • There is consistency in approach across all the Telecoms activity.

  • The SHEA strategy is implemented.

  • We achieve full compliance against all legal requirements, Client requirements and Kier Group SHEA IMS.

  • Information is recorded accurately in order to promote best practice.


Key Tasks:

  • Manage a small team of SHE Advisers.

  • Actively promote Safety, Health and Welfare, leading and setting a good example to other employees and stakeholders.

  • Maintain the IMS in Telecoms in line with the needs of the business and the Kier IMS requirements.

  • Work closely with the operational teams in carrying out their roles and SHE responsibilities.

  • Provide timely and affective operational SHE support and advice to the business unit.

  • Ensure operational compliance to approved SHE procedures.

  • Ensure that all SHE reporting requirements are provided accurately and in a timely manner.

  • Ensure all accidents, incidents and near misses are effectively investigated, contributing to Incident Review Boards and Incident Review Panels.

  • Ensure that everyone in the business unit is trained appropriately for their role.

  • Assist Management teams in the development of health and safety related documents and contract improvement plans.

  • Advise and assist in the identification of health and safety training requirements

  • Conduct health and safety Inspections & Audits as required (minimum of 8 SSIs per month)

  • Liaison with Project, Client and other stakeholders on compliance issues.


Key Accountabilities:

  • To implement and comply with all legal requirements, Kier Group’s SHEA IMS, Client requirements and best practice.

  • Ensure the Group is compliant with all SHEA: statutory requirements, accredited processes and procedures, and contract specific requirements.

  • Manage the reporting and review of SHEA accidents / incidents.

  • Support the assessment of staff to ensure capacity, capability and competency are maintained.

  • Comply with Kier Group’s HR policies, procedures and Values.

  • Hold a minimum of one quarterly 1-1 with each team member (ideally every month) where objectives, PPR’s and PDP’s are reviewed

  • Ensure all new starters are inducted according to the "new starter policy".


We are seeking candidates who have:


Essential:

  • Full UK Driving Licence.

  • NEBOSH Certificate (preferably Construction) or equivalent.

  • Membership of relevant professional institution.

  • Experienced SHE Adviser.

  • Five years experience in H&S or relevant operational roles.


Desirable:

  • Five years practical H&S experience.

  • Three years’ experience working in utilities.

  • Experience in managing a team of H&S professionals.

  • Environmental qualification (IEMA or equivalent).

  • Working knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 Standards.
