About the role

Shared Lives Recruitment and Communications Officer

Permanent, Full Time

Up to £36,809 per annum

Location: Chelmsford

The Shared Lives service is a key component of Essex County Councils strategy to provide good quality accommodation option for adults with support needs. The Shared Lives service provides the opportunity for people with care and support needs to move in with, or regularly visit, an approved Shared Lives Carer.

The role requires an innovative and enthusiastic person to be part to be part of a team that improves the lives of adults with disabilities in Essex. You will raise the profile of the new Shared Lives service amongst adults, their families and professionals within Essex County Council and partner organisations, to ensure that colleagues are fully aware of the service and its benefits.

Developing and implementing recruitment and communications solutions in a person-centred way, taking into account the different communication needs.

Some of the other duties include:

  • Create and implement a Shared Lives Programme’s Communications plan which will develop the Shared Lives profile to increase awareness of Shared Lives Service across different areas of Essex County Council and with external stakeholders as a positive and appropriate form of support.
  • Plan and deliver creative communications from start to finish, such as press releases, web content, digital media, short film, social media releases and e-communications.
  • Develop and oversee the Shared Lives team internet and social media presence.
  • Working collaboratively with country wide Shared Lives services, building relationships and working in partnership to increase the profile of shared lives.
  • Responsible for developing and implementing full carer recruitment plans, apply specialist knowledge on current market conditions and appropriate methods of attraction to meet carer recruitment targets.
  • Managing the end to end recruitment of Shared Lives Carers, providing advice and support to the Registered Manager and Shared Lives from point of application through to on-boarding.
  • Develop and implement carer retention plans, with the aim of measuring carer satisfaction levels and developing retention strategies.

About You

To apply, you’ll need Confidence in working with central communications leads to develop materials for internal and external audiences including stakeholder engagement.

Other skills include:

  • Experience of developing communications approaches and materials in a large organisation, delivering both internal and external communications and raising awareness of a service.
  • Experience of creating stories, delivering successful communications projects and campaigns.
  • Experience of planning and delivery of stakeholder engagement events.
  • Excellent interpersonal, writing and presentation skills and an ability to communicate clearly and accurately to a variety of audiences, both internal and external.
  • Experience in delivery of accessible communications such as Plain English and Easy Read.
  • Evidence of the ability to develop and sustain effective relationships with a diverse range of internal stakeholders and partners.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with evidence that can work with a wide variety of people.

This role has a rolling rota to cover core working hours - Monday-Friday, 09:00-18:30 and may require occasional Saturday, 09:00-17:00 - 37 hours per week.
