What is the purpose of this role?
The setting out engineer will be responsible to ensure that all structures and infrastructure works are set out in accordance with the construction drawings and relevant specifications. The Engineer will be in control of initial setting out, during construction checks as well as ensuring the built product is to the quality required. As part of this role the setting out engineer will be required to accurately record this initial, during and as built information following the quality system as set out in the IMS. It will be their responsibility to advise the site teams and management of changes required to bring works in line as part of the ongoing during construction assessments. They will have a good awareness of Health and Safety and lead by example whilst on site.
What will this role involve?
• To accurately set out all items detailed on the scheme’s ‘for construction’ drawings • To ensure these items are within the defined tolerances and recorded as such • To help management and implementation of Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental Management Systems • The ability to manage and motivate the project delivery team as appropriate • Working with senior management to find ways to improve project execution and drive efficiency
What are we looking for?
Essential • Educated to HND/ Degree level in Civil Engineering • CITB SMSTS Site Manager Accreditation • Demonstrated experience in setting out on large scale infrastructure projects • A good level of IT literacy • A driving License Desirable • Civil Engineering Site Manager’s Industry Accreditation Level 4 (CSCS) • Confined Space Training • First Aid • NRSWA • Experience in deep drainage and shaft construction
