Would you like to play a pivotal role in the integration of Combat Systems with the Type 26 frigate? We currently have a vacancy for a Service Transition and Release Lead based at our T26 Land Based Integration Facility (LBIF) at Portsdown .

As the Service Transition and Release Lead you will be developing and delivering processes for the management of software releases and how they will be transitioned onto the Type 26 frigate. This would include defining service acceptance criteria required for release, defining and documenting how release tools are used and contributing to Shipyard processes for rollout. This role also focusses on operational Change Management and Service Asset and Configuration Management (SACM) helping other service delivery processes.

This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in the incorporation of the new network infrastructure onboard Type 26 frigates, the newest and most complex of next generation Naval Ships. You will play a pivotal part in defining the output of the shore side test facility and transition to the ship which has not been undertaken in the Combat Systems world previously. This is a chance to utilise your transition and release skills and mould systems processes from early conception.

Your main responsibilities as a Service Transition and Release Lead will involve:
  • Lead the Service Transition activities; engaging all stakeholders to ensure they are carried out efficiently and effectively.
  • Define and develop the Release Management and Transition processes, through consulting and engaging relevant stakeholders.
  • Initiate and develop the Release Deployment Processes
  • Ensure all releases follow the Change Management Process and that they are processed efficiently and effectively
  • Ensure updates to the site Configuration Management Database (CMDB) data are provided for releases.
  • Ensure the artefacts within the Definitive Media Library (DML) are kept up to date with media produced for releases.
  • Ensure any data, information, knowledge is captured and maintained as best as initial capability allows.


Essential

Your skills and qualifications:
  • In-depth knowledge of Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) based Service Management (SM)
  • Knowledge of one or more of the following; transition management, release management, change management at manager level, and SACM at manager level.
  • Good knowledge of the other Transition processes and an understanding of how they can be applied to the LBIF Network Infrastructure SI once developed .


Desirable
  • ITIL Qualification
  • Previous use of Service Management toolsets e.g. JIRA Service Desk, BMC Remedy .
