The Northern Gynaecological Oncology Centre (NGOC)was founded in 1948 and is based in the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Gateshead (Gateshead Health NHS Trust.) The NGOC is a tertiary referral centre for the North East & North Cumbria Cancer Network, with a catchment population of 2.5 million. Recently, with reconfiguration of regional services, the NGOC has been named Lead Provider of tertiary gynaecological oncology care for women within this whole region.Gateshead Health NHS Trust have an exciting opportunity for someone to join our team as a service improvement facilitator. You will be an integral member of the Macmillan funded project developing a pelvic radiotherapy late effects service.The successful post holder will work with the Macmillan Lead Gynae-Oncology nurse on a project to develop a pelvic radiotherapy late effects pathways on pelvic radiation disease (PRD) an umbrella term for a variety of symptoms a patient may experience following radiotherapy to the pelvis, this will include gynaecological, prostate, urology and colorectal cancers This will involving working with a broad range of stakeholders across the Northern Cancer Alliance, provider organisations and primary care.The successful post holder will apply service improvement methodology to the project and support the delivery of quality improvement and transformation change. You will engage with the multidisciplinary team, clinicians, nurses and patients to develop pathways for patients experiencing the consequences of treatment.
