Senior UX Designer

CXC Global are working with Jeppesen UK searching for a Senior UX Designer on a FTC with Hybrid Working

The Boeing Global Services Digital Aviation Services team is a key innovation group where we conduct best-in-class aviation research and quickly turn market-driven ideas into products. It leverages industry best-practices, such as Agile Software Development, Pragmatic Marketing, gated processes, and self-directed teams, to develop new and innovative digital products for our customers.

Aviation has adopted a target of net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. To achieve this ambitious target Boeing has a suite of sustainability focused solutions that we are seeking to build out specific capabilities around Sustainable Aviation Fuel.

We are also seeking to support wider Environmental Governance across the industry through maximizing the value of exiting solutions – in particular this will include creating new and novels ways to help airlines manage their non-CO2 emissions such as Contrails and NOx emissions.

We are looking for a Senior User Experience (UX) Designer who will support one of our integrated project teams (IPT) working on an integrated, intelligent solution targeting sustainable aviation.

Tasks & Expectations:

In close collaboration with your IPT, you will identify user and customer needs, collect business and technology insights, and turn them into products and experiences that will make aviation sustainable. Within your IPT, you will interface with product management and represent the UX team in PI/sprint planning, architecture reviews, and other meetings. You will work directly with users, stakeholders, and customers during all phases of the project to develop strategies and specifications to create/improve the performance, usability, and effectiveness of native mobile and/or web-based software applications.

You will also collaborate with the European and Global UX team, benefit of their aviation industry experience, and in return, share your experience that made you an outstanding UX Designer. You will be expected to not only work on your projects independently, but also train and mentor other team members.

In alignment with our Design Thinking process, you will:

  • Empathize: You will help to plan and direct research activities in collaboration with research specialists.
  • Define: You collaborate with researchers, lead the analysis and synthesis of research data, coordinate the creation of journey maps, scenarios, service blueprints, and other documentation.
  • Ideate: You lead the team in the development of solutions through brainstorming, sketching, and creation of mockups, ensuring regular reviews and reporting status. You will coordinate presentations and other communication.
  • Prototype: You will oversee the creation of prototypes and coordinate presentations to management and other stakeholders.
  • Test: Senior UX designers plan and conduct testing activities, working directly with users and collecting feedback. They ensure results are reported and incorporated into future revisions.
  • Implement: You coordinate with the development team to ensure proper collaboration and oversee design system use.
  • Measure: You collaborate with data analysts to ensure the correct metrics are tracked and actioned.

Desired Skills & Experience:

You should bring a solid background based on a minimum of 7 or more years of relevant design experience (UX Designer, Interaction Designer, UX Researcher, and/or Information Architect) and have an affinity for Qualitative Research, Analysis & Synthesis, Presentation, Facilitation, and Writing. Communication skills and team player qualities are equally important.

Required Qualifications:

  • Longstanding applied experience in design process, design methods, design principles, and a solid intuition.
  • Proven track record of working with human-centered-design methodologies on high-quality, digital products.
  • Applied experience in collaborating with Product Managers and Product Owners creating easy consumable requirements for development teams.
  • Driven by curiosity and eager to work in one of the most exciting industries on the planet.
  • Ability to discuss eye-to-eye with stakeholders like Engineering Managers, Product Owners, etc.
  • Excellent communicator of design work and your rationale behind proposals to internal stakeholders and customers.
  • Team player and self-starter who can organize activities and deeply collaborate with other designers and subject matter experts.
  • Ability to contribute meaningful approaches for how to collaboratively run UX research in agile teams.
  • Capability to creatively synthesize insights, build intuitively understandable insight formats, and drive decision making.
  • Ability to facilitate collaborative workshops with team members and stakeholders.
  • MA (Master of Arts) / MS (Master of Science) in User Experience Design, Industrial Design, Psychology, Human Computer Interaction, or related disciplines and typically 7 or more years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills in English.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of aviation and/or aviation technology would be highly desirable.
  • Experience with agile methods (e.g., SAFe).
