The Clinical Trials and Statistics Unit at The Institute of Cancer Research (ICR-CTSU) is expanding its statistical team. We want to hear from you if you:

  • like the challenge of analysing complex datasets and/or researching, developing and implementing efficient trial methodology that would make a difference in patients’ lives
  • want variety in your work and opportunities to apply your statistical knowledge across a number of therapeutic areas in oncology
  • like to work as part of a multi-disciplinary research team with like-minded statisticians.

Applications are now open for a Senior Trials Methodologistposition to join our team of over 20 statisticians. The post offers an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and well-motivated statistician to work in a dynamic and supportive academic environment at one of the leading National Cancer Research Institute cancer trials units.

ICR-CTSU manages an exciting portfolio of national and international phase II and III clinical trials and an expanding number of early phase I/II cancer trials. You will contribute to shaping the development of methodological innovations and implementing efficient methods in new and ongoing trials, with specific focus in early phase and adaptive trials. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team on trials methodology research and on the statistical development, oversight and analysis of a number of clinical trials within ICR-CTSU’s portfolio and the Drug Development Unit’s early phase portfolio.

We seek an experienced and highly motivated statistician with an interest in researching new statistical methods to improve efficiency in clinical trials and who is looking for opportunities to apply their statistical knowledge across a number of therapeutic areas in oncology. The successful applicant will have a post-graduate qualification in statistics. Effective oral and written communication skills and enthusiasm for collaborating with others from different disciplines are essential.

The role is being offered on the Analytical Scientist 3 scale which ranges from £43,000 to £50,000 per annum (pro-rated for part time staff), initially for 33 months but with the possibility for extension. The role is offered full-time, but part-time working to a minimum of 80% FTE will also be considered.
