Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Transport Planner to join our Rochester depot. As one of our Transport Planners you will play a central role in creating effective transport plans for our customers within Eurobulk, whilst complying with legal responsibilities.

Eurobulk is a well established transport company specialising in the bulk movement of Agricultural and Industrial products between the UK and mainland Europe.

Eurobulk runs large capacity tipper and walking floor vehicles and trailers. We are TASCC accredited, meaning we are approved to carry agricultural produce all over Europe. Eurobulk has its own drivers and subcontractors that we use on a permanent basis.

Job Purpose

To build, manage and maintain relationships with Customers. Manage the day- to- day operations of the customers in your portfolio ensuring agreed service levels and financial targets are met.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Be the first point of contact for all matters related to your assigned portfolio of customers.
  • Effective management and planning of drivers, through on-going communication and using our transport management software.
  • Submitting customs declarations for UK import and export and ensuring compliance with customs regulations.
  • Liaising with customers, overseas partners, and suppliers to arrange quick dispatch of cargo.
  • To ensure the daily plan is completed in real time managing resources effectively, maximising utilisation whilst minimising cost.
  • Controlling and planning an agreed amount of resource (vehicles, drivers, trailers); ensuring all legal requirements are adhered to (Working Time Directive and EU drivers’ hours regulations).
  • Promote and encourage health and safety adherence, and mindful of environmental impact.
  • Deal with issues and identify solutions/alternatives.
  • Provide a variety of quotes to your customer to best service their requirements in an ever-changing scenario.
  • Work with key internal stakeholders such as operations and customs to obtain delivery status updates for your portfolio of customers within a timely manner.
  • Be responsible for ensuring credit limits are managed to an appropriate level and payments and debt is recovered.
  • Arranging T forms and checking they have been discharged.
  • Constantly communicate with our drivers and subcontractors to ensure customer KPI’s and targets are achieved and maintained.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Time management skills are essential as are communication (phone and writing) skills.
  • The ability to prioritise and work under pressure of workload is also a necessity.
  • Experience of managing a fleet of vehicles.
  • Experience of managing drivers and dealing with associated challenges.

Desirable

  • CPC National & International
  • Knowledge of TASCC -Trade Assurance Scheme for Combinable Crops accreditation
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Customs and transport legislation.
  • Experience processing import and export declarations
  • Checking import documentation is correct, including commodity codes and preference
  • Arranging T forms and checking they have been discharged
