The Role

Senior Technician

Salary: £12.50 per hour

Location: Motherwell

Hours: 42.5, 5 days out of 7 on a rota. This will include the weekends as we are a 7-day retail business

Due to the nature of the role you will need a full, clean driving licence and be able to drive and park.

As a member of our network of Senior Technicians you will be key to our business in providing Technical Expertise to our Workshop and Customer Service Teams. Alongside your day-to-day PDI Technician activities, you will work in a team that is passionate, proud and determined to make a huge contribution to our business operations. You will be a confident and effective communicator with the ability toDeliverOutstanding Customer Service, while also possessing strong analytical and problem-solving attributes. Supporting the Business,you will be constantly looking for new ways to improve the team and your operation. Taking inspiration from the latest thinking from within the industry you will act as a real change agent for the transformation and growth of our business.



What will you be getting up to?


Technical Expertise

  • You will have experience with inspecting mechanical/electrical components and diagnosing issues accurately and effectively
  • You will be familiar with the use of computer based diagnostic equipment
  • You will be up to date in the use of SAE J2534 Diagnostic Protocols
  • You will have the ability to follow Technical Instruction Documents
  • You will have experience in the utilisation of wiring diagrams
  • You will take the lead on complicated repair work
  • You will service and repair vehicles in line with manufacturers specifications
  • You will keep up to date with the latest industry knowledge and techniques
Deliver Results
  • You will care passionately about customer service and achieving the best possible results in terms of case resolution and customer satisfaction.
  • You will be a clear communicator and empathetic listener with our customers to ensure the highest levels of customer service are provided
  • You will be analytical and get into the detail of the problem to formulate a resolution, making commercially sound decisions based on a cost/benefit basis
  • You will relish and drive change, demanding innovation in thinking from peers and your teams to ensure we deliver the best possible outcomes every time
  • You will be an ambassador of Quality and Efficiency. Ensuring vehicles are rectified Right First Time.
Supporting the Business
  • You will act like a founder, looking for opportunities across multiple platforms to increase efficiency and lower costs
  • You will be inspired externally looking for best practice approaches across the industry and beyond
  • You will consult and lead on complex tasks, and act as the subject matter expert within your team
  • You will have the ability to identify training needs and deliver sessions to support with the education and development of the technical team
  • You will be an advocate of Health and Safety, ensuring safe working practices and housekeeping standards are followed
  • You will be a big picture thinker, never sacrificing long term value for short term results
  • You will be comfortable to own mistakes and visibly learn from them
  • You will take accountability for own and wider team performance

  • Qualified at least NVQ level 3 in a relevant motor trade qualification. Time served applicants with NVQ level 2 will also be considered.

  • Good communication skills to question, listen, interpret, and explain technical issues to customers
  • High levels of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a competent and efficient manner both as part of a team and independently
