The BA (Hons) Film Production and MA Film Practice courses are modelled on the contemporary film industry and contextualised by a philosophy of practical learning in an academic environment.
We are looking to recruit a Senior Technician to support our BA (Hons) Film Production and MA Film Practice courses, and line manage a team of specialist technical support staff.
Experienced and proficient across technical areas of filmmaking practice, as an integrated member of the technical support team you will devise and deliver induction sessions, workshops and seminars, alongside providing leadership to the delivery and oversight of health, safety and welfare in line with legislative and institutional requirements.
You will provide expert advice and comprehensive support across technical aspects of learning and teaching activities, including individual, group and collaborative student projects, which take place in dedicated university studios and on location; ensure the on-going availability of serviceable equipment through proactive and reactive maintenance; and oversee the effective and efficient operation of equipment stores, ensuring accurate asset management procedures are maintained, including completing regular audits, inventories and stock checks.
You must possess a first degree, or equivalent, in a relevant subject, or have significant industry experience in a related field, as well as GCSE grade A-C, or equivalent, in English and Maths. Experience of working in a film production related professional environment is essential, while having contributed to supporting learners in a further or higher education context would be advantageous.
You will need to be flexible in your approach to the working day and environment as this varied post supports a diverse range of individuals and will entail evening and weekend working, on the main university campus, its associated satellite sites, and on location.
