As the Principal Stress Engineer (Secondaries Actuation) at Actuation Systems UK, based in Wolverhampton, you will play a crucial role in the design and development of secondary flight control actuation and associated subsystems.
Your responsibilities span the entire product life cycle, from conceptualization to production support.
Collaborating with multi-functional teams, you will conduct structural and vibration analysis, utilizing both classical and computational methods.
Your role also includes supporting new business opportunities, developing customer relationships, and contributing to engineering strategy and technology roadmaps.
What will your day-to-day responsibilities look like?
- Perform preliminary sizing analysis and conceptual design support.
- Conduct classical and computational analysis on mechanical elements and components.
- Generate technical reports and present summaries to internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop new capabilities to support technology roadmaps.
- Support customer proposals, presentations, and production-related issues.
- Collaborate with Value Streams to identify synergies and opportunities.
- Mentor and provide training in Stress discipline.
- Act as the primary contact for Stress within the Value Stream.
Technical Requirements
- Degree-level qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
- 10+ years of stress/thermal analysis experience.
- Proficiency in Abaqus, MathCAD, and CATIA preferred.
- Advanced understanding of classical analysis methods and structural FEA.
- Proven problem-solving ability in structural analysis environments.
- Experience in complex failure investigations.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
