What you need to know about the role Working in the role of Senior Stores Operative, you will provide an effective stores and spares service by:

  • Optimise resources utilisation across all local engineering stores delivering service to all customers achieving Key Performance Indicators
  • Contribute to leading and motivating staff through collaborative leadership developing team cohesion, operational improvements.
  • Support development of staff competency, implementation of training plans.
  • Maintain engineering stores stock in line with company standards.
  • Act as the focal point for system or process queries, escalate to management when required.
  • Support organisations spares stock storage in an efficient manner.
  • Drive high standards of handling materials and housekeeping.
  • Support development and implementation of improvement projects delivery to agreed timescales.
  • Lead and direct contractor resources as and when required.
  • Engaging with internal and external customers addressing service delivery issues.
  • Operating various types of forklift trucks, overhead cranes
  • Dealing with correspondence Health and safety is our number one priority and you will be responsible for following workplace health and safety standards and for working towards the security of the building and stock. You will be based mainly at our Scunthorpe site, this is a day role working a 42 hour week and will include some weekend work. Overtime will be required during plant shutdown periods. What we need to know about you We’re looking for someone with previous experience of working in an engineering stores. This is a physically demanding role and involves lifting, bending and use of steps to access racking. A working knowledge of stores, inventory management and stock control systems would be an advantage You need to have the ability to work under pressure and to deadlines, have an eye for detail and be well organised. Due to then nature of the role you must be health and safety conscious. Knowledge of SAP, Microsoft Excel and Lotus Notes an advantage and fork lift truck certification and HGV licences are desirable although training can be given for on-site use. A first aid certificate is also desirable.
