JOB TITLE: Software Test Engineer LOCATION : Dorset Do you have the skills to deliver robust software test solutions for above-water and underwater systems? We are seeking a Software Test Engineer to join our team and lead software test activities within the software development lifecycle. Our team focuses on testing software systems for maritime solutions, products, and systems. This role plays a crucial part in our business strategy by ensuring the quality and reliability of our software products. As a Software Test Engineer at Atlas Elektronik UK, you will be responsible for planning, managing, and executing software test activities. You will work closely with the development team and utilize your knowledge of software testing methodologies and tools to create test plans, develop test cases, and conduct thorough testing. Key responsibilities include: Leading and supporting software test activities Creating and maturing software test plans Developing test cases based on software design information Managing a Software Test Engineer responsible for test script creation and delivery Carrying out software testing, generating test reports, and reporting software bugs Testing high integrity software to recognized standards Ideally holding ISTQB Tester level certification Applying software testing expertise in various domain areas, such as maritime combat systems, command and control systems, acoustics/sonar, RF communications, autonomy, AI, machine learning, and data management. The ideal candidate for this role should have the following qualifications and skills: Degree or equivalent level education in software engineering or a related discipline Proven ability to lead and support software test activities Knowledge and understanding of software testing within the software development lifecycle (agile and waterfall) Understanding of software open architectures and principles Ability to plan, estimate, manage, and deliver robust software test solutions Experience in creating software test plans, test cases, and test scripts Familiarity with tools and techniques applicable to software testing Experience in testing high integrity software to recognized standards (e.g., IEC 61508) Preferably holds ISTQB Tester level certification or equivalent Understanding of military systems, particularly maritime systems Experience in software testing in one or more relevant domain areas.
