Rockley is breaking new ground in delivering integrated optics for multi-application, health-related sensing, and monitoring applications. Personalized monitoring of multiple biophysical and biochemical biomarkers enabled by the high-density optical integration capabilities of the platform will revolutionize the way we look after our health and wellbeing. The ability to bring laboratory diagnostics to the wrist and point-of-care solutions will transform patient monitoring and healthcare delivery.

Your main responsibility in this role is to design and develop a middleware/presentation software layer that processes raw data generated by our wearable sensors into signals that are converted into health biomarkers. The ideal candidate for this position is a strong C++ algorithm developer with experience in signal processing and developing public APIs. This role requires close collaboration with hardware, firmware, application (desktop/phone), and biomedical algorithm engineers - effectively overseeing a consistent data flow from end to end.

Additional desired skills are: experience writing code in Python/C#, writing shared libraries with a well-documented API, developing/supporting Graphical User Interfaces (WPF/DevExpress/Qt/wxPython), and a solid understanding of the fundamentals of embedded hardware/software development.

Major Responsibilities
  • This list is not all-inclusive. Additional duties will be assigned as needed.
  • Design, implement, and maintain the presentation layer API responsible for pre-processing raw data for visualization and for post-processing into biomarkers;
  • Coordinate with hardware, firmware, application, and algorithm team to understand the raw data being generated from hardware/firmware and what pre-processing may be required, and deliver the data to the presentation applications in the format expected for visualization and post-processing;
  • Support post-processing (biomarker) algorithm development for desktop environment;
  • Design and implement testing for shared library API - including unit testing, regression testing, and automated test in CI;
  • Manage delivery schedules, sprints, meetings, and releases for shared library updates.

Education & Experience
  • BA degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related fields;
  • Minimum 5 years of working industry experience (3 for MSc);
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in C++;
  • Strong background in algorithm design and optimization;
  • Previous experience and proficiency in designing and implementing APIs for shared libraries;
  • Experience with real-time data signal processing is preferred;
  • Desired familiarity with biomedical spectroscopy;
  • Strong communicator and ability to coordinate work/deliverables with multiple teams;
  • Experience working in an Agile (Scrum) software development environment;
