In a nutshell

In this exciting Senior Project Manager role within Virgin Atlantic’s Transformation function you’ll be accountable for the successful delivery of projects to time, cost (100k - £5m per annum) and quality in a global environment adopting both Project Manager and Scrum ways of working.

You’ll work collaboratively with key stakeholders, external suppliers and other departments to ensure that agreed deliverables are achieved. You will be a formally qualified Senior Project Manager (APMP or PMP, and ideally MSP) and able to utilize a range of delivery tools (Teams, Azure, Project, Perform and PowerApps).

This role reports into a Tribe lead with a real emphasis on shaping and delivering projects/programmes, coaching practice members and contributing to the continuous improvement of the Technology Delivery Framework.

Day to day

- Produce well considered high level plans, roadmaps and milestones to articulate the strategic objectives and outcomes of the project.

- Ensure that all project deliverables are agreed by the Epic Owner, Identifying the key dependencies within the project so that these are clearly shown as part of the product backlog.

- Working in conjunction with the Value Stream Lead establish measures that would be effective in articulating and measuring the business benefits of the successful project delivery.

- Support the Epic owner where needed in readiness for PI events or funding requests via course correction.

- Deliver the assigned project activity in an effective and inspired manner, ensuring team performance and delivery expectations are made clear to all those who will be involved and that features are delivered successfully as planned and within budget.

- Ensure the project delivery team are fully engaged within the project, understanding it’s aims and objectives and the role that they play within delivering against the requirements

- Identify key stakeholders at the start of the project lifecycle and create a stakeholder management plan which identifies how and when to engage the relevant parties including suppliers and technology teams.

- Variances to the agreed delivery and budget are identified and escalated to the appropriate stakeholders, both within the department and our business.

- Ensure the business area / departments are effectively prepared for the changes being delivered and business processes are implemented/adjusted accordingly and training delivered to facilitate successful delivery.

- Ensure projects are successfully transitioned into BAU support with appropriate artefacts being provided and framework governance adhered to.

- Management and control of the project finances by measuring and tracking against the allocated project budget, reconciling the spend versus budget on a monthly basis and as required showing actual spend, committed spend and estimate to completion.

- Mentoring and Coaching, Practice Strategy and Maturing the Practice

About you

Are you a Senior Project Manager with extensive Agile/Scrum Master experience, able to manage high budget programmes on time and to budget?

Do you manage challenging stakeholders and lead the way in fast changing environments? Are you able to set high standards and coach/develop talent? If so, we’d love to hear from you!

Alongside the above we’re looking for the following to be successful in your application:

- Experience of controlling Project finances to tight budgets whilst working within a diverse and complex organisation

- Significant track record of successfully delivering high value worth Projects which have delivered the agreed business benefits

- Exceptional planning skills – being able to plan for multiple features, across multiple components, with multiple skill sets as well as being able to plan for increases or decreases in team capacity

- Substantial and demonstrable experience of management of third- party suppliers, including offshore services

- Experience of working effectively with a wide variety of people at all levels within an organisation

- Strong team player with the ability to work with a variety of professionals from different disciplines to successfully deliver Projects
