Job Description

The Ministry of Defence are seeking a Senior Project Manager to join their team in Corsham.

Team: Ministry of Defence|MOD Core|JFC|Director Information Systems Services

Initial contracts will run for 294 working days and offer a rate up to 599/day.

IR35 STATUS: Inside IR35. This engagement has been assessed by the public body as Inside IR35 legislation. Candidates would be required to operate through an umbrella company on this engagement.

This role requires Active SC (Security Check) clearance. Applicants require active SC clearance or the willingness to go through clearance before starting on site. Candidates with current clearance will be preferred.

Role Summary

The role of the Senior Project Manager is to lead / manage the project and the project team on a day-to-day basis. The Senior Project Manager is responsible for driving and overseeing the delivery of the project to ensure that the objectives are clearly defined and achieved within the agreed time, cost and quality constraints. The Senior Project Manager has a key role in project governance and working with stakeholders, to ensure the agreed project outputs are delivered to enable benefits to be realised.

Specifically
  • A Senior Project Manager is needed to manage a programme that ensures critical SatCom capability provision over the next 8 years or so. The requirement is required to manage the work to the point of full commitment, although they will need to make their recommendations early to ensure our choices remain comprehensive and viable.
  • Prepare fallback options for the continuing provision of critical SatCom capability.
  • Review what is available commercially and through international collaboration.
  • Review options to identify the last safe moment for commitment, and any consequential capability shortfall.
  • Mature any studies to a point that they are suitable for decision making and commitment.

Minimum Requirements
  • Association of Project Management (APM) Project Management Qualification (PMQ) or equivalent.
  • Understanding acquisition (ideally from both a customer and supply side);
  • Developing new a new acquisition strategy for delivery;
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills;
  • Proven ability to define, source, tailor, and analyse high quality management information;
  • Able to demonstrate the professional credibility required to work collaboratively across project and organisational boundaries;
  • Knowledge of SATCOM would be desirable;
  • PRINCE2 Practitioner
  • Agile Project Management Practitioner
  • APM Practitioner Qualification
  • APM Registered Project Professional
  • Project Leadership Programme
Candidate Eligibility

Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK, this role will not offer Visa sponsorship. Tier 2 General visas are cannot be accepted. This role requires that candidates be willing to undergo BPSS (DS) Baseline Personnel Security Standard (with a Disclosure Scotland).
